crochet soap sack DIY
...
I saw it in a shop in New York and on ikoiko
It's easy to make yourself
with a nice bar of soap it's a lovely present for friends
you need:
crochethook EU size 3
fine hempyarn
linnen ribbon
basic crochet skills
2 houres under a blanket on your couch
1.Rd: 8 sc in a loop
2.Rd: in every sc 1 sc + 3 chs = you will have 8 bows
3.Rd: in every bow 1 sc + 3 chs = you still have 8 bows
4.Rd: in every bow 1 sc, 3 chs, 1 sc, 3 chs = you finally have 16 bows
5.Rd: in every bow 1 sc, 3 chs
continue in a spiral till you have 23 Rd from the beginning
the sack approximatly measures 4 ¼" × 4 ½" or 11cm × 11.5cm
weave a linnen ribbon or a chain of hempyarn through the loops on top
finished!
good luck!
I have different soaps then 3 years ago, see here!

ceramics and plants
...
brown was never my favorite colour
but for ceramics I like it
the drainage of the plantpot let me think about the labyrinth in Chartres
or a japanese zen garden
the airplants 'Tillandsia' I brought back from New York
couldn't find them here
PS: I found out that the thing is not a plantpot but a filter for the coffeepintcher and the smaller thing is the cover! See here.
It's from "Zaalberg Holland"-mid-century dutch ceramics
Maybe I should go back to the shop and buy the pintcher as well-but he's too brown for my taste!

things I brought home
...
the dackshund is moving his head and tail
he makes a good sculpture on the anvil from M.
another long wooden spoon think from California Red Wood
funnels and a star for my stove
hot sauce from the largest rooftopfarm in Brooklyn
liquid smoke does it great on tofu
the most beautiful can opener I ever saw, of course japanese
the tarot cards are amazing and are from the wild unknown
Mickey band-aids are just fun

Manhattan Buildings
...
back home I realized that I didn't took many pictures while staying in New York
the feelings and memories stay without a shoot
the overwhelming feeling comes back in the fever dreams I had the past nights
and strangely
I was so dissapointed about MoMA while there
the art pieces in my memory come back much clearer
of course it's realy good modern art
but MoMA is an American Supermarket of modern art
the wheel of Duchamp cleaned and laquered to its brilliant state
which I think is not the intention of a ready-made
I realized that I'm more european then I thought!

white winter food
...
Hirsebrei mit Apfel, Honig und Nüssen
Sellerie-weisse Bohnensuppe mit Tahin
warm
etwas schleimig
Herzerwärmend
for healthy vegan recipes I discovered this
hope to eat some of that when staying in Montclair next week
to be honest, most of american food isn't like that
especially if you stay somewhere next to a Highway in Totowa!

Geneva
...
last week we performed in Geneva
went to the museum to see more of Ferdinand Hodler
I'm rediscovering him through M. since I left Switzerland
the things which were close get another quality by seeing it from a distance
I really liked the old cinema and the chandelier in the theater

nominated
...
normally I don't talk much about my work on this blog
but this time it's different
I was nominated with my costumedesign for Tragedy of a Friendship
by "Operawelt" for best opera costumes season 2012/2013
I'm very happy and proud
all the tears, fear, discussions, working nights and bloody fingertips are worth it
the hundreds of pearls still hang on the velvet
the white is still white even after much porcblood was used
it's definitly time to shoot proper photos
there is still the chance to see it in real
Montclair State University, New Jersey US-Kasser Theater-1.-3. November
Lille France-Opera-23., 25., 26. November
Bruges Belgium-Concertgebouw-11. December
by the way:
I'm looking for a room to sleep in New York from 4. - 8. November for 4 nights
would like to stay in Brooklyn
anyone knows something?

candle sculpture

beeswaxcandels from the "Brocki" in Switzerland
most of them handmade
one burned down like a gothic sculpture
the old ones I burned last winter
