christmas decoration

...
The tree is every year a point of discussion. Does everybody likes the new balls, the colour, the placement, the size! And has the tree the perfect size, the good top...
We decided the heart was too big and too much in everybodies eye.
My sisters job is not an easy one!
...
Their house in the winter is even nicer-with all the different shades of white inside and outside.

After party recipe

...
Gave yesterday a before christmas goodbye Belgium sitting party.
Couldn't make photos of the final food, but here the recipes.

I realized that I cook a lot by colours and I like the dark tones of wintervegetables.

The little mushroom pies I did with dough from the turkish shop. Not easy to handle but nice crispy!
Here the recipe.

The beetroot soup:

- 600g little raw beetroots
- 2 potatos
- 1l concentrated bouillon
- fresh lemon juice, pepper, seasalt, little sugar
- fresh craved horseradish

cook the beetroots and potatos first cut in little slices in the bouillon
puree it
add lemon juice, pepper, seasalt, sugar and horseradish
puree again
add some Crème fraiche on top or other fresh cheese and some parsley

Enjoy it hot or cold

wishlist 1 chairs

...
looking too much into inerior magazines and blogs I reallized, that the world is full with eames chairs. I can't see them anymore!
But I would really like to have the chairs from Charlotte Perriand, which she designed for the ski resort in Les Arcs in the french alps.
Let me know if you see them in real.
And I like the closet visit from momo suzuki! She has the chairs-check flickr!
Her name, what a fantastic combination. Momo was the only book in fairytale style I liked as a kid, and a motorcycle isn't bad either!

mailänderli explosion

...
Yes, it is the most typical swiss christmas cookie "Mailänderli"
And with the old cutters I found recently in the Brockenhaus, they get beautiful. The shapes are much nicer then with new ones I think!
...
A book from 1951 from a bakery woman about her business! Very fifties and old-fashioned but very beautiful.

Some Zen baking after the "Explosion im Festspielhaus" again Einstürzende Neubauten. Sorry, only for insiders who know more what I'm doing during the week!

Urknall Durchbruch Expansion
der Damm gesprengt
über die Bühne geflutet
trunkene Sterne
ein neuer See
der Höhepunkt des Ganzen:
Die Explosion im Festspielhaus
Aberjahrmilliardenwirbel
Myriaden Wonnefeuer
heraus-hineingeschleudert
Milchstrassencumshot
Lavastromejakulat
auf dem Höhepunkt des Ganzen:
Die Explosion im Festspielhaus
Es bleiben
Täler Kurven Mulden
ein Abdruck ihrer Formen
im gamma-Strahlenhintergrund
dazwischen in der Schwärze
verbreiten Botenstoffe
Künder dieses Höhepunkts
von Ganzen nur ein Echo:
Die Explosion im Festspielhaus
[english]
The Explosion in the Festival Hall
Big bang, break-through, expansion
the dam blown up
flooded over the stage
drunken stars
a new lake
the climax of everything:
The explosion in the festival hall
Endless trillions of years of spin
myriads of fiery rapture
hurled out hurled in
Milky Way cum shot
lava flow ejaculation
on the climax of everything
The explosion in the festival hall
What remains are
valleys curves hollows
an impression of her form
in the gamma ray background
in between in the pitch black
transmitter agents circulate
harbingers of this climax
of everything just an echo:
The explosion in the festival hall

Urban Transformation in Zürich

...
Wanted to see the mountains but there was fog!

The "Prime tower" in different perspectifs.
Went to the "Brockenhaus" and found a lot to bake nice cokkies but I don't have time.
I'm cleaning, washing, painting people black and this every day-everything for the art.
I hate art sometimes.

But B. sprayed me a tatoo.

washing-up

...
with going to Brussels and Paris the last weeks a lot, I thrifted not only for my work also for my apartment.

Recent finds:

old cotton towels in different sizes
old washbasins, got 2 for the price of 1 but had to carry it through the whole city
a book about linnen in old times with a lot of useful tips about care and washing
old toothbrushes
hamam soap=black soap for the body (I really get a soap fetishist!)
a washbasin for children-like the wooden waterdrop

the black and white photos are:

the silent evolution

...
a movie for a much better Sunday then it was today. Got the link from N. Thanx!

And the swiss newspaper Tagesanzeiger has a home blog. I don't know what to think about it. Was so homesick today and to see this clean images made me feel home in Antwerp again. November is really not my month!
And everybody is copying everybody. It makes me sick. We want to be individuals and what we get are individual copys.

New project for Zurich on christmas:

blanket holder

...
I have an obsession with Hermès. But of course I can't afford anything. But it doesn't have to be original, I take it more as an inspiration.
And by the way: my teacher from the leather bag sewing class told me, that the prices for Hermès bags are really to high, even if everything is handwork.
I'm very happy with this find and I think it's a very practical handle not only for blackets.

You can find them on internet, not used since 1997, just as a decoration on a unused eames chair. My god, how decadent is this!!!!

Architecture and Urban Transformation in Europe

...
On my way to the Cranach exhibition in the BOZAR in Brussels, I came along the free exhibition over urban transformations in Europe.
Some models caught my eye because I recognized them: Zurich an Basel.
If you know the spaces for years and you could feel and see with your own eyes the transformations, it's not all that nice. Architects and cityplanners are sometimes like the mad men of advertisment, on a model and drawing, in photos it looks so good, but you forget the people who lived there.
There are fantastic places and buildings but they are only for rich people. I ask myself what Europe and especially the cities will do with the poor? Put them in ghettos around the city like in South America or Asia?
Here in Anwerp it is already like that. I live in the middle of the muslim ghetto, and the famous Spoor Noord is not far. In the summer the cool and chic drink their Latte on the bar, the marrocan families have their picknick far from the bar on the grass!
Would like to meet more architects who think about this!

Dedicated to my dear brother (if he reads my blog):

"The Prime Tower was constructed on the borders of Zürich West, a landmark and an important stimulus to the development of the new district. The office tower, with its glazed facades constantly changing colour, is circled by public space which connects the surrounding new and renovated(?) buildings. The immediate environment is the site of countless new and ambitious projects."
So have a look here, that's how my eye sees it!
