risi e bisi

.
..

I am happy with cooking these days. Find so much nice, fresh vegetables at the maroccan shop in the neighborhoud. In fact cooking in colours!

And I found a perfect sofa today at a thrift store. Felt immediatly in love with the form of it, not with the colour! It is yellow but I will cover it in one of my vintage 50ies fabrics. It will arrive tomorrow-can nearly not wait.

Asparagus-Spargeln-Asperges

...

I bought a bunch of asparagus today just because I wanted to use once the old asparagus plate I bought some weeks ago. Have a lot of these kitchen utilities with nice patterns or in nice materials. There is nothing against cooking in order to serve it in a special bowl I think.
The recipe for the tasty pasta with asparagus.

Fashion Farm 2010

...

This weekend I was the sheperd of my collection during Fashion Farm 2010.
Nice experiance to get in contact with possible clients.
I was happy to feel that ordinary people have an eye for craftsmanship and luxurious fabrics.

Felt good to be there.

Preparing the shop

...

I always wanted to have a shop or at least sell things.
End of this week there is a sale from young designers here in Antwerp to present their collections to the public. I also take part and been preparing now the sale.
The nice thing on that is maybe more to choose the hangers, the labels, the table, the material of the bags, the colour of the wrapping paper, the logo, the business card... then the selling itself! I like this preparation a lot, could spend hours on it-which I do actually at the moment.
I also like this repetativ work like cutting labels, hole them, stamp them, let them dry, gather them and put them in a nice little box.
I choosed white, grey, black and recycling brown.

If your in town the weekend of 24th/25th april, pass by and have a look. More informations here.

Vorhänge-curtains-gordijnen

Magnolia

On the second picture you see one of the biggest magnolia trees in Europe. There are only two more in the same size!
I didn't hear a nightingale!

Growing in the shade

Von tales of the nightingale

Went out of the city today to arboretum Kalmthout for the "planten dag". Searching for plants which grow well in the shade. Have a really nice, big terrace but never sun there. The sun stops in front of the terrace. Really a difficult thing to find nice and even flowering plants. The window-sills in my bath- and sleeping room are full with plants, no place there anymore.
Today it was paradise for me: found 8 plants, all from Asia and Mexico which are growing perfect in the shade-there is even a tree under them, but still very small. Waiting for the big garden, once-hopefully.
I like the latin names a lot.

From top left clockwise:

Tricyrtis hirta-Taiwan
Polygonatum falcatum-Japan
Maackia amurensis-China tree!
Epimedium amanogawa-Japan in Deutsch Elfenblume
Yerba buena satureja douglasii-Mexico tea
Pleione formosana-China
Disporum flavens-Asia
Heuchera-Mexico

J. asked me if I was high from nature today, because I explained him every single plant with total enthusiasme.
I think I'm high. Nature is fantastic!

Welcome

Welcome to the tales of the nightingale

This blog is about what I am occupied with in my daily life. I try to write as much in english but the longer texts will be in german.
Living since 8 years not in my homecountry anymore, speaking 3-4 languages through eachother I really like my native language a lot.

Enjoy it
