Schreibedinge

...
was ich manchmal finde

also

Russian scarf

...
some time ago
I found this parcel in a handbag in a hugh mess of clothes on the fleamarket
It seamed, that the woman who brought it back as a souvenir from the World Exhibition '58 in Brussels
never looked at it again
so it was capsuled in its original condition in the purse for over 50 years!

It's always again a wonder what is possible to find on a flea

from stockings to colour

...
it's getting warmer and the time of the fleamarket is back without nose which freez to dead
some nice things I found yesterday

enamel plate - hugh enough to carry a cake
cake wire - I have now 4 so I can open a bakkery!
a table mirror - for the girls who visit me to put on their make-up
wooden object - to put on the wall
and
5 forms for knitted stockings - from baby to grown-up women
I can definitly open a shop :-)

went also to see this exhibition
Per Kirkeby
nice colours and a beautiful film, his process of painting one big canvas
I dislike the fact that photos are nearly never permitted in exhibitions
the prints in the book are not good qualitiy, completely different colours

and this book would be very interesting: about colours by Wittgenstein

hunting & collecting

...
Stormy weather in Belgium
hazelnuts were falling
covered the wealthy fashionstreet in Brussels
and nobody took them

I took the possibility to collect a fool bag
need to find a hazelnutcracker
my squirrel cracks only big nuts

Naga tribe necklace

...
bought this beautiful necklace in an antique store in Brussels
it's from the Chang tribe and old
price was still in belgium franc!

I'm more and more fascinated by ethnic jewellery
there is a kind of mystic about it and maybe fear as well by wearing it
you never know which power is in it

more fotos on the naga here
...
this one is from the fleamarket in Zurich

abandoned house

...
not only in Detroit they have it
in Belgium as well
the fascination about a house standing empty
lonely walls, broken windows
nobody who takes care of
except some unknown artists

in this building in Antwerp I always wanted to enter with T.
I'm glad I didn't, even if I would like to get an old sink-but please without layers of shit!

dansk furniture II

...
This weekend it's Design furniture market in Brussels.
A big hangar filled with the most beautiful furniture from the last 60 years, not only the common pieces like the Eames chairs in all variations also rare and special pieces.

Felt in love with a very nice plywood chair from Eames. The man kindly told me the high price and the story behind:
Charles Eames gave this chair as a gift to Harry Bertoia. Both names are written on the underside: the price 4500.-- euros

As always with dealers, there are nice ones and asholes.
One told me by asking for the price of 4 tiny wooden spoons: "It's wenge! You know wenge? This are no papplepels (papspoons)."
But another one sold me the pendant for all the money I have left in my purse, which was the half of what he was asking for first.

...
There is the stool pk33 from Poul Kjærholm. He was sold for 4000.-- euros. I have the copy in simily leather and found the perfect tray to build it into a coffeetable. The wood is beautiful-no wenge for sure, maybe rosewood or palisander!!!
...
Salt and pepper fishes I got as a late birthday present from E.
They are too cute!

recently thrifted

...
Went to Brussels and found some amazing pieces. I wonder sometimes that somehow I often find the things in the right timing like I need them.

heavy leather scissors
a fantastic terracotta pot with now chips-heavy to carry through the whole city but worth the pain in the arm!
a clutch in best condition and a perfect model for my leather class
the sunglasses for Seville
an amazing book about Antonio Lopez Garzia-more of him soon
my first musicinstrument for my wish to make more music this year!

Architecture and Urban Transformation in Europe

...
On my way to the Cranach exhibition in the BOZAR in Brussels, I came along the free exhibition over urban transformations in Europe.
Some models caught my eye because I recognized them: Zurich an Basel.
If you know the spaces for years and you could feel and see with your own eyes the transformations, it's not all that nice. Architects and cityplanners are sometimes like the mad men of advertisment, on a model and drawing, in photos it looks so good, but you forget the people who lived there.
There are fantastic places and buildings but they are only for rich people. I ask myself what Europe and especially the cities will do with the poor? Put them in ghettos around the city like in South America or Asia?
Here in Anwerp it is already like that. I live in the middle of the muslim ghetto, and the famous Spoor Noord is not far. In the summer the cool and chic drink their Latte on the bar, the marrocan families have their picknick far from the bar on the grass!
Would like to meet more architects who think about this!

Dedicated to my dear brother (if he reads my blog):

"The Prime Tower was constructed on the borders of Zürich West, a landmark and an important stimulus to the development of the new district. The office tower, with its glazed facades constantly changing colour, is circled by public space which connects the surrounding new and renovated(?) buildings. The immediate environment is the site of countless new and ambitious projects."
So have a look here, that's how my eye sees it!
